Samvatsari

As we all know forgiveness has got so much power in itself. Just by forgiving someone or asking forgiveness from someone makes us so much light weight (burdenless). In many teachings across the globe, it is said that even the most critical disease can be treated by the power of forgiveness.

Due to so much pride and ego within us, we often fail to ask and give forgiveness which in return make our time go worse. What will happen if you regularly practice it? Just try to think on it and you will surely get proper answer. If we can force our kids to say sorry for their mistake and to teach them a lesson, remember even we are kids of god and unfortunately if he ever try to teach us any lesson you might feel like living in hell for sure. So always be a kid when it is all about forgiveness.

Samvatsari is the last day of Paryushana — the eight or ten day festival of Jainism. It is the holiest day of the Jain calendar. Many Jains observe a complete fast on this day. The whole day is spent in prayers and contemplation. A yearly, elaborate penitential retreat called samvatsati pratikramana is performed on this day. After the pratikramana Jains seek forgiveness from all the creatures of the world whom they may have harmed knowingly or unknowingly by uttering the phrase — “Micchami Dukkadam”. As a matter of ritual, they personally greet their friends and relatives Micchami Dukkadam. No private quarrel or dispute may be carried beyond Samvatsari and letters and telephone calls are made to the outstation friends and relatives asking their forgiveness.

I am asking for forgiveness from all of you for any of my mistake harmed you knowingly or unknowingly. I am so much grateful for your unconditional forgiveness. Thank you.

I am unconditionally forgiving you all for any harm done to me from your side knowingly or unknowingly. I am accepting your forgiveness and thank you for the same.

“Micchami Dukkadam” Pleas forgive me for any of my sins. Thank you.

Earth Element

Beloved Mother Earth

Website Translation Widget (For website url: http://www.doyoureckon.wordpress.com)

Sky, earth, water, air and fire the basic five elements of nature. All with their super natural power and specialization. When we go for spiritual workout and meditations we should use these powers to get much better results in every part of ours whether it is related to aura, chakras or our physical body. It helps us all for free throughout our lives just by asking their help to send us their special powers and thus, we gain good health and also spiritual benefits.

Modernization is always good but not at the cost of our mental, physical and auric loss. Science is taking us on higher levels for modern techniques and machine world. We all feel good when we see certain new inventions and experiments and most of us even wish to be like those inventors and scientists. It is fun, excitement and victory upon certain thoughts which came into existence successfully.

We never realize the things we left back in our past is also very precious. There was no sophistication about doing things with the help of nature or to be with nature. Playing in mud bare footed, swimming in open water sources, move around in green fields with minimum clothes, cook food on wood/coal fire in open space, etc. If you try to share this with your grand parents or great grand parents they will recall their past and those happy peaceful moments and might get wet eyes full of joy and memories. This will happen to them because they have experienced all of it and they know the advantage. Many people around the world are working hard to explain these things to new generations but they hardly get any response as these processes and life style is very time consuming.

We all living with tendencies of getting free things like anything, it is like we always crave for it, but we forget to use it once it is in our hands. Power of nature is one of those free things we run for and then never use it. The only reason behind it is that – “It’s Totally Free”. Just think, what will happen if nature starts sending us cash invoice every time we use air to breath, water to drink, walk on earth, gaze the sky and fire to cook. Whole world will become bankrupt in months because all these things are very precious. Those who are capable of using it never thinks of the one not able to see it for days.

These five elements have their specific properties used to heal our auric, mental, spiritual and physical body. No medicine is as good as healing energy of nature. Any medication taken will just do certain chemical balance in our body. If we stay with nature and its healing energies we might never need any medication. Let us try to know about our beautiful nature.

We will go through them one by one.

EARTH ENERGY

It is very good for physical strength, mental strength and it is like the real life force which tries to maintain our existence on earth. It helps to get rid of depression and other similar mental imbalances. We can understand this with the example of a farmer, when you look at any farmer you will notice a very good physic, strength, power, happiness because he stays on ground, works with mud for the most of his time everyday. Earth energy gives him energy for all this things and keeps him away from any kind of mental disorders and physical weakness. You can find all the healing energies from the herbs, plants and trees grown on earth which are used to prepare ancient and modern medicines which we use it in either ways i.e. use it directly or convert it into pills.

barefoot_lady

It is believed that walking barefoot gives you more energy, clears your mind, fights varicose vein, free reflexology session, helps you do grounding, more ability to spread toes, helps decreasing anxiety and depression, strengthens & stretches muscles, tendons & ligaments in your feet, ankles & calves. So from now onward  try to be bit desi while going out and feel our beautiful loving earth barefoot instead of branded footwear.

Lord Ganesha

Lord Ganesha (Elephant Head God)

Website Translation Widget (For website url: http://www.doyoureckon.wordpress.com)

Asian culture is full of religious and spiritual stuff wherein you can find varied god and their respective sotries. Lord Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati.

Similar to other god even Ganesha has many names, very famous amongst them are: Ganpati, Vinayak, Pillaiyar, Vighneshwara, Dvaimatura (one who has two mothers), Lambodara (one who has a pot belly, or, literally, one who has a hanging belly), Gajanana (having the face of an elephant), etc. List of 108 names of Ganesha is shown at the end of this article.

Ganesha is widely worshiped for many purposes like removing of obstacles, knowledge, wealth, power, etc. as he is the elder son of the creator, the destroyer Lord Shiva. He is worshiped in many different parts of the world like India, Nepal, United States, Canada, Mauritius, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Burma and Fiji.

Apart from Indians and specially Hindus, the story behind the elephant head is rarely known to others. Let us go through a quick short part of it. Mother of Lord Ganesha, Devi Parvati set him to stand guard at her door while she bathed. Lord Shiva returned and, as Ganesha didn’t know him, he didn’t allow him to enter. Lord Shiva became enraged, severed the head of the child and entered his house. Parvati got angry on Lord Shiva and asked him give her son back alive. Lord Shiva promised her and said that he will fix the head of any one who will come first on the way, suddenly an elephant came on the way and Lord Shiva fixed the head of an elephant in place of Ganesha’s head. In this way, Lord Ganesha came to be depicted as the elephant-headed God.

During Ganesh Chaturthi festival people buy Lord Ganesha idols to make them sit in their particular premises or nearby house/office with an open invitation to all. Prayers and offerings are given to all during the rituals everyday untill the date of Ganesh Visarjan (Ganesh Visarjan – People carry Ganesh idol to the water resources i.e. river, sea, etc. and put it in the water). Ganesh Visarjan ceremony is very glamours, full of traditional music, dance, joy & happiness all around. During Ganesh Visarjan you can also find feeling of losing someone you love the most, people request to the god to come back soon.

In the field of spiritual practices, it is said that Ganesh resides in the first chakra called Muladhar Chakra (Basic Chakra). Muladhar chakra is the chakra for manifestation or outward expansion and in other teachings it is also believed that muladhar chakra is for prosperity and will to live.

Rosh Hashanah

This time we are going to know something which might be least known to people around the world (except for Jewish people). “Rosh Hashanah” Jewish new year is on 17-18 September this year. It is the first of the High Holy Days or Yamim Nora’im (“Days of Awe”) which usually occur in the early autumn. Rosh Hashanah is celebrated on the first two days of Tishrei (said to be the first month of civil year). It is described in the Torah as Yom Teru’ah (a day of sounding the Shofar).

Shofar

Shofar is a horn, traditionally that of a sheep (ram), discussing shofar is another wide topic which needs time to learn and explain, so I will try to cover it later.

Prayers performed on this new year day called piyyuttim, another special prayer-book is also used known as mahzor.

Rosh Hashanah Symbolic Items

Moving towards the details of something required by every living being, Special Food of the festival. Apple and Honey includes in the symbolic food list of Rosh Hashanah, to symbolize a sweet new year. Next important symbolic food is fish head to symbolize the ‘head’ of the year. Some communities hold a “Rosh Hashanah seder” (seder – (Judaism) the ceremonial dinner on the first night (or both nights) of Passover) during which prayers are recited over a variety of symbolic dishes. Blessings start with a phrase – “Yehi Ratzon” (“May it be thy will.”). The Yehi Ratson platter may include apples (dipped in honey, baked or cooked as a compote called mansanada); dates; pomegranates; black-eyed peas; pumpkin-filled pastries called rodanchas; leek fritters called keftedes de prasa; beets; and a whole fish with the head intact. It is also common to eat stuffed vegetables called legumbres yaprakes.

Prayer & Greetings

Just like every religion and language, Jewish people have their traditional greetings:

  • On the first night of Rosh Hashanah after the evening prayer, it is the Ashkenazi and Hasidic custom to wish Le’shana Tova Tikoteiv Vetichoteim (Le’Alter LeChaim Tovim U’Leshalom) which is Hebrew for “May you (immediately) be inscribed and sealed for a Good Year (and for a Good and Peaceful Life)”.
  • Shana Tova (pronounced [?a’na to’va]) is the traditional greeting on Rosh Hashanah which in Hebrew means “A Good Year.”
  • Shana Tova Umetukah is Hebrew for “A Good and Sweet Year.”
  • Ketiva ve-chatima tovah which translates as “May You Be Written and Sealed for a Good Year.”
  • The formal Sephardic greeting is Tizku leshanim rabbot (“may you merit many years”), to which the answer is ne’imot ve-tovot (“pleasant and good ones”). Less formally, people wish each other “many years” in the local language.

Let us greet all people a very happy rosh hashanah and god bless all for all their good wishes. Have a joyful, prosperous life. Amen!

Full Moon

Website Translation Widget (For website url: http://www.doyoureckon.wordpress.com)

Look up there in the sky at night, a big circle, bright & some random designs. Yes, we are talking about the moon. People of every religion and country know about full moon and new moon. Varied beliefs, as usual and we know that, some people believe it to be very good and some find it bad.

Since ancient times, people used to pray to the moon. Their knowledge was not so good those days and moon was considered as a heavenly body. There were many religious and spiritual rituals to be performed at places around the world.

There are many effects of the full moon on us, it can be related to your feelings, emotions and desires. For normal people it is like crisis period but for spiritual and/or religious people it is the period of opportunity. On the full moon day the cosmic energies are on the highest levels and if not handled carefully it might create crisis.

If we talk about crisis, one can feel drowsy, over-excited or aggressive. If you have noticed, on the full moon day possibilities may arise of road accidents, diseases, fights (for minor issues) and many similar problems. When we say problems it can also be of lost password. An alcoholic will get more thoughts about need to drink more and more. A gambler will keep on betting even if he is losing every bet.

If we talk about spiritual/religious person, it is possible to awaken thoughts about spirituality that lie in someone’s mind to increase spiritual practice and use the heightened mind activity. Such person will do powerful meditations, prayers, visit religious places, do rituals and carry out donation and help to needy people. This heavy and dense energy will give fast and fruitful reaction for this good work. A writer will get very nice subject ideas and good thoughts to finish it. A donor will try to help as many people as possible.

To Do:

  • Early morning prayers
  • Chanting of God name (as per religion)
  • Chanting of your spiritual guru or your favorite teacher (spiritual protection)
  • Meditation (if you know any, CLICK HERE FOR MEDITATION HELP)
  • Physical help to needy (serve at hospital, help aged people in their work, etc…)
  • Donation (for food, medicines, clothes, etc…)
  • Stay in good mood as much as possible (CLICK HERE FOR IDEAS)
  • Spend more time with kids below 3 and people above 60

Not To Do:

  • Listening of rock, hard rock, metal and similar music types
  • Fights for minor issues
  • Important decisions
  • Buying and/or selling of properties/costly items
  • Fast driving
  • Going on heights
  • Deep water diving/swimming
  • Stay with more than 2 person for more than a couple of hours

Let us try a small yet effective full mood meditation for peace, happiness, silence, health and love. (If you don’t find it comfortable just stop meditation, open your eyes and sit relax and take plain water bath)

Very slowly take salt water bath, wear nothing but white cotton clothes with head cover, sit alone in a peaceful place, minimum light (not darkness). Do some light physical exercise, even some body shaking will do.

(Set an alarm for 15 to 20 minutes to bring you back in your body, place the device at a fair distance)

Close your eyes and chant “OM” for around 11 times to purify your whole system and to gain peaceful mind. Pray to god for divine guidance, protection, happiness, love, prosperity during the meditation. Imagine the bright white glorious moon shining above your head. See the smiling moon. The light rays are so alive dancing. It is traveling downwards to embrace you. Hold you tight with love and care. Feel the touch very cool, yet warm. It is entering through your skin going through every pores, every cell; making you energetic, peaceful, happy and weightless. You are the moon light. Let go your soul with the moon wherever it wants.

On the alarm bell, very gently, slowly come back to your body. Slowly move your fingers. Open your eyes with big smile. Give blessings to whole world for divine health, guidance, protection, prosperity. Give blessings to co-workers and neighbours. Give blessings to your family.

Sit in normal position for a minute. Stand up and do some shaking, jump for a couple of seconds to release any excessive energy. Stay away from your family, children & aged people for around 1 or 2 hours. Do not take bath for next 12 to 24 hours.

Try to notice what happened during your meditation and note it down. Share it via comments to know more about your experiences.

DO NOT FALL INTO ANY RUMORS ABOUT FULL MOON AND DON’T PANIC!

Eid-ul-Fitr

Website Translation Widget (For website url: http://www.doyoureckon.wordpress.com)

Eid-ul-Fitr

We are here to know few basic things about Eid-ul-fitr (known as EID, in general), sorry if you find any mistakes in the writing. Readers are welcome with their thoughts and corrections if required.

Eid al-Fitr was originated by the Islamic prophet Muhammad. It is observed on the first of the month of ‘Shawwal’ at the end of the holy month of Ramadan (also known as Ramzaan in many places), during which Muslims undergo a period of fasting.

Eid is generally celebrated for 1, 2 or 3 days in different countries and traditions. Simple greetings are “Eid Mubarak” (Blessed Eid) and “Eid Sa’id” (Happy Eid). Good news – it is declared as ‘Holiday’.

Very special day, joyful and Muslim people wait to wake up with very happy mood with some religious/spiritual essence. Wake up early (before sunrise), perform pre-sunrise prayer, brush their teeths, takes bath, wears new clothes (best available), apply perfume.

It is forbidden to fast on Eid Day. Starts with small sweet breakfast, preferably date fruit before attending special Eid Prayer (known as ‘Salaat’).

People do charity by giving money to poor and needy before performing the ‘Eid Prayer’:

  • To show happiness
  • To give as much charity as is possible
  • To pray Fajr in the local Masjid
  • To go early for Eid salaat
  • To read the takbirat in an open field.
  • Go to the Eid prayer on foot

Muslims recite the following incantation in a low voice while going to the Eid prayer: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. La ilaha illà l-Lah wal-Lahu akbar, Allahu Akbar walil-Lahi l-hamd. Recitation ceases when they get to the place of Eid or once the Imam commences activities.

The Eid prayer is performed in congregation in open areas like fields, community centers, etc. or at mosques. No call to prayer is given for this Eid prayer. The Eid prayer is followed by the sermon and then a supplication asking for God’s forgiveness, mercy, peace and blessings for all living beings across the world. The sermon also instructs Muslims as to the performance of rituals of Eid, such as the zakat. After the prayers, Muslims visit their relatives, friends and acquaintances or hold large communal celebrations in homes, community centers or rented halls.

Coming to the most favorite part of this festival, the gifts – Eid gifts, known as ‘Eidi’, are frequently given at eid to children and immediate relatives. As we all are children of god, even non-muslim people get chance to give and receive Eidi.

As I always say, different countries have different changes to celebrate and have minor procedure changes.

Here is the video capture for Eid Prayer performed at Makkah last year, I find it best suitable for the post.

On this holy day, may allah bless the whole world for happiness, food, prosperity, well-being, protection and teachings. In full faith, Amin!

Hanuman

Hanuman ji

‘Fear’, a word known and faced by every living being on the earth. It comes in varied forms during our life-like fear of injuries, results, relations, financial, etc. Different cultures and religions have their own role models on which they have full faith. In hindu culture, there is a god called “Hanuman” who is always ready to make you free from fear, weakness or any kind of troubles you are suffering from. For non-Indian people, he is very famous as “Monkey God”.

Hanuman is said an ardent and most powerful devotee of Lord Rama. He was the central character in one of the Hindu epics called “Ramayana”. He was the leader of Lord Rama’s Army fighting against the demon king ‘Ravana’. There are many beliefs for his name and it is also said that he is incarnation of Lord Shiva.

As we know now that Hanuman is an ardent and most powerful devotee of Lord Rama, it becomes very easy to please him when you call upon him. Hanuman is always ready to help and protect anyone, especially if the person is devotee of Lord Rama & her wife Devi Sita.

Some literature also mentioned that once Hanuman was put to test his devotion towards Lord Rama and he was in need to show the strongest possible proof, he stand facing Lord Rama & Devi Sita and shouted “Jai Shree Ram” and started to tear his chest. People present over their tried to stop hanuman doing it and very tensed, even Lord Rama questioned him, for which he answered that I am an ardent devotee of yours and just trying to show your place in me. The moment he tear his chest everyone show Lord Rama & Devi Sita’s image in his heart. This is the reason you find some of his pictures doing the same. Hanuman wanted to tell everybody that you cannot become a devotee just by chanting prayers/mantras, for that you must have space and real faith in your heart.

Hanuman is blessed with many unique special powers by different gods. Let’s check them out:

Brahma gave Hanuman a boon that would protect him from the irrevocable Brahma’s curse. Brahma also said: “Nobody will be able to kill you with any weapon in war.” From Brahma he obtained the power of inducing fear in enemies, of destroying fear in friends, to be able to change his form at will and to be able to easily travel wherever he wished. From Shiva he obtained the boons of longevity, scriptural wisdom and ability to cross the ocean. Shiva assured safety of Hanuman with a band that would protect him for life. Indra blessed him that the Vajra weapon will no longer be effective on him and his body would become stronger than Vajra. Varuna blessed baby Hanuman with a boon that he would always be protected from water. Agni blessed him with immunity to burning by fire. Surya gave him two siddhis of yoga namely “laghima” and “garima”, to be able to attain the smallest or to attain the biggest form . Yama, the God of Death blessed him healthy life and free from his weapon danda, thus death would not come to him. Kubera showered his blessings declaring that Hanuman would always remain happy and contented. Vishwakarma blessed him that Hanuman would be protected from all his creations in the form of objects or weapons. Vayu also blessed him with more speed than he himself had.

Chanting to call upon him when you are in any problem or bad time:

  • Ram Laxman Janki Jai Bolo Hanuman Ki
  • Shree Ram Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram (also known as Ram-Dhun, it is said that Hanuman promised to give his presence at any place where people are chanting Ram-Dhun)
  • Very well known and most powerful prayer is called Hanuman Chalisa:

(It might be hard to pronounce exactly but you can pray to god in advance to forgive your mistakes or wrong pronouciation and he will accept your prayer)
