Lord Rama

As we all know, there are many types of meditations depending on the one you have faith on.

Rama personifies the characteristics of an ideal person (purushottama) who is to be emulated. He had within him all the desirable virtues that any individual would seek to aspire, and he fulfils all his moral obligations (maryada). Rama’s purity and piety in his intentions and actions inspires affection and devotion for him from a variety of characters from different backgrounds.

There are many different ways to meditate on particular subject. One can choose any mantra to meditate as it is all about our internal faith.

For Lord Rama Meditation one can use any one of the following mantras (Chant it for ten to fifteen times):

  • OM NAMO RAMA OM (Recommended – Provided by GMCKS)
  • Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram (also used for Ram Dhun) (Dhun is like uttering the same mantra with a particular rhythm)
  • AUM DASARATHAYE VIDMAHE, SITAVALLABHAYA DEHEEMAHI, TANNO RAMAH PRACHODAYAT (Gayatri Mantra for Lord Rama)

Best time for meditation:

  • Sunrise (Your city’s standard sunrise time)
  • Sunset (Your city’s standard sunset time)

Sitting Position:

  • East (Sun rise) facing
  • Folded legs / Padmasan / On chair without crossing your legs or hands (if you are sitting on chair, do not let your back touch the chair)
  • Rest your hands on your knees / thighs with your palms facing sky
  • Eyes closed (No Spectacles)
